Tasting the Porter - 11 days in the bottle

We tasted the Porter today.  Its been in the bottle 11 days.  Much better than the first taste test but still needs some time.

English Bitter

On Tuesday we boiled our 3rd batch ever, its going to be in the style of an English Special Bitter.  Were doing an extract & specialty grain recipe.  The primary fermentation was pretty quick.  Began in less than 12 hours and seems to have ened after less than two days.  We are now on day 4 and the color is turning a nice dark amber, and it appears to be settling out nicely.

bottled the Porter



Here is whitney after bottling our porter.  We bottled on April 13th so we are almost at 2 weeks in the bottle.  Our sample after 1 week was sort of depressing but apparently porter needs to age so we havent given up hope!

bringing home the kit

The whole kit is taller than whitney.  Here we are standing on the platform of the G train taking home our 5 gallon home brew kit.  We got it from Brooklyn Home Brew which is a great little shop at the corner of 3rd ave and 8th st.
